Robe's new ROBIN MMX Spot - the next generation of 1200 series moving lights - continues to be a popular and fast selling product with Korean distributor Art-Tech based in Soul.
The MMX's extreme brightness, its host of creative features - including the unique dual animation wheel, versatile zoom - plus its compact size and low power consumption, are all helping make it a winner for professional entertainment lighting applications.
Recently MMX Spots were used to light Korea's 'Superstar K' TV show, now in its third edition, staged at Kyung Hee university and broadcast live on their M.net channel.
Lighting designers Kim Yeon and Choi Jae from rental company RGB Lighting utilised 30 MMX Spots and 22 of Robe's ROBIN 600 Beams in the design. The lights were arranged above and around the stage on trusses, hoists and boom arms, and used to create drama, excitement, colour and movement.
Superstar K is one of the highest rated TV shows in the country on Korea's only fully dedicated music channel.
Nineteen thousand hopefuls applied from all over Korea, China and even the US for a chance to be selected as one of the 'Top 11' competitors in the third series. They battled it out to win a substantial cash prize and the chance to realise their dreams of superstardom.
MMXs were also used to light the latest tour for Korean rock stars, the YB Band, who celebrated 16 years of a highly successful, truly rocking career, to the delight of their large and enthusiastic fan base.
Lighting designer Lee Minho designed the show, which included 24 MMX Spots, together with 24 Robe ROBIN 600 LEDWashes and six Robe ColorSpot 2500E ATs. He comments, "MMXs really brought a vibrancy and a massive dynamic to the stage, helping me build contrast and depth into the lighting". The band's music ranged from full rock-tastic anthems, to slow, melodic ballads, so he really appreciated the flexibility and imaginative options that all the Robe fixtures could offer.
Lighting equipment for the YB Band tour was supplied by leading Korean rental company, C-Lighting.
